‘Gua Sha’ and Cups
It was in my time as an apprentice with Miriam Lee, L.Ac. (author of “Master Tong's Acupuncture” and “Insights of a Senior Acupuncturist”) when I came across these techniques and realized how to really use them and how effective they are. Next to needles, these methods have been the most valuable tools I know. The results are immediate and open the way to a deeper process in healing on all levels.
‘Gua Sha’ (translation “spoon method”) and cups, used since ancient times, were used to detoxify tissues, for the treatment of colds and flu's, bronchitis, as well as rheumatic and other pains. These are mostly combined with acupuncture. Cups can be used stationary or moved over large, flat body surfaces such as the back (moving cups).
They facilitate the resolution of both acute and chronic disorders, the results of which I can only call stunning.
